I’ve tried cycling now, and it is great. People in Mexico treat you with the same respect as a paper bag on the road, but I am cautious. Also, having the coast nearby is a massive plus that makes me want to keep cycling every morning. The hatch of my Golf is just big enough for me to carry the bike, I have to pull the rear seats down and the passenger seat reclined completely vertical.

No manches..... literally. It’s hard to get stains off headliners :]

This might be kind of silly but is that a sticker of your license plate in your window?

I am extremely cautious, and if I do get more into this I will buy one of those bike carriers that go on the outside. Sleek, ULY.

YES. The god damned government forces you to put that sticker AND the little rectangular one on top of it. Mind you, it isn’t one for the whole life of the car. You have to add those 2 stickers EVERY. YEAR.
In 10 years, the rear glass will be blocked by them.

The best way to carry the bike with a rack is with one of the trailer hitch mounted racks. I’ve heard the type that straps to the hatch itself can dent the panels where the load bears. The roof racks can get expensive and what ever is stuck to you bike then gets rattled off onto your roof.

Yeah, the trailer hitch mounted ones care great, but I don’t know about availability here. I was inclined to the strap on’s but will think about what you mentioned. Thanks!
Also, I am not putting anything on my roof.

nice euro plate! did you import your car?

I mountain bike quite a bit, and I will say that the bike does fit in the trunk of the L.

you’d be surprised, you can get a hitch for pretty much anything
![]() 07/08/2015 at 14:40 |

Also, they make you have a sticker of your license plate?

That’s why hatchbacks are better than sedans. However, my newish Focus company car will take a bike like that with much more ease. And no folding the passenger seat. Being a wagon, not a hatch, helps.

Nope! I just bought the plate.
I don’t care what everyone says, Europlates are awesome.

I think it’s too much hassle for just a hobby.

I really hate them with an insane passion and think they should be illegal :) and I love fucking with people who change the badges on their car. the other day a #hellaflush is300 pulled into the gas station I was at and he was decked out with Toyota badges and altezza badges. I walked over and go wow an altezza! I haven’t seen one of those since I spent a year in japan. then I go damn you imported this and did a rhd conversion nice! how much did that cost you and he goes umm its a lexus dude am I go so you spent money to make your lexus look like a Toyota? and he goes yea... then I just backed away slowly. made my Wednesday for sure

You see those two stickers there? The plate and the little rectangle? Well, we have to pay some corrupt ass “taxes” so the car can travel in the joke of asphalt strips they call roads here and every year they give us a pair that we HAVE to paste in the window. 8 years from now, 16 stickers will have to find a place in my car and I am INFURIATED by this.
/rant.

Damn. I stopped counting how many Avengers here have HEMI badges/decals.
![]() 07/08/2015 at 14:54 |

that’s not the same. I just think it should be illegal to put on fake license plates and fake badges on your car because cops/citizens cant identify them correctly which leads to various problems. adding a v8 badge to your camry doesn’t really complicate anything

Of course wagons are better for taking bikes:

I do have my rear plate and front plate in the car in case a cop tells me anything. They haven’t. And there are 2 stickers that say my number plate.

You won’t have to sit the passenger seat up if you take the front wheel off for transportation. That way said seat remains usable. I just got a roof rack for mine (now I just need the bike and kayak carriers) so I won’t have to do this anymore but I did it all the time with the old Mazda3.

I don’t know how easy it is to put a trailer hitch on the car, but if you can please do than and don’t do the straps, I’ve seen countless cars with panel gaps bigger than you might imagine because the bike torques the hinges and starts loosening them, it looks hideous and I can only imagine it fucks up with the durability of them.
![]() 07/08/2015 at 21:51 |

I thought of doing that but always felt it was more complicated. I will try it tomorrow.
![]() 07/08/2015 at 21:51 |

Damn! No straps it is!

As long as the bike has a quick release axle it’s easy and possibly quicker than moving and adjusting that seat every time. If it doesn’t it’s probably not worth doing.

just put new over old ones?
![]() 07/09/2015 at 09:29 |

Yes, I will do that, it’s just maddening the way the government tries to find ways to take more money from you.

I like your car.

Why Dont you take thw front wheel off? Its pretty quick and can make you life easier when loading/unloading the bike.
Y ponle un trailer hitch. Esos racks de ese tipo son los mejores. Yo siwmpre he usado de esos. Y tienen una bisagra para bajarlos cuando quieres abrir la cajuela y que no te estorbe.

I just got a new mountain bike, and unlike my old one, it doesn’t simply fit in the trunk of the Audi with the wheels off. I’ll be using the X3 to transport it from now on.
